Who makes the decisions? How are the elders chosen?
How are the offerings handled and spent?
These are valid questions that should be asked and easily answered. We live in an era today where people open churches and ministries every day. With access to the internet and a small fee someone can become a minister with the click of a button. They can fill out some paperwork, and quickly they have a church recognized by the state with the only oversight being themselves.
The Apostle Paul was inspired by the Holy Ghost to write about some of these specific things in his letters to the churches. Just a couple examples can be found in Titus 1:5-10, 1 Timothy 3, and Acts 4 and 5. When we operate according to the scriptures we will find favor with God and man. They cannot speak evil of the good things being accomplished in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ!
Since 1968, through much prayer, the elder board has made the decisions for this local body of believers. There are currently five elders on the board. The Elders range in ages from 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 90’s, Thank you Jesus! The diversity of age and experience on the elder board allows for great discussion, openness, and freedom as Jesus guides and directs his church!
Elders are selected according to the scripture. If they desire the office, they are brought before the congregation and set apart for proving. They are examined as a family according to the word of God. After meeting the requirements set forth in God’s word they are prayed for and set in as an elder. Pastor Bryan was an elder for years. The board set him in as the assistant pastor in 2004. He sat under Pastor Moore for many years before becoming the Lead Pastor.
Offerings are collected on Sundays and through on line giving to support the ministries. The offerings are counted and verified by the elders and treasurer. Multiple steps and signatures are necessary to maintain accuracy and accountability. Every dollar spent is prayed about and voted on by the elder board. Thank you, Jesus this process allows us to support missions and operate in a debt free facility.
I hope this gives you the peace and confidence to support Jesus is Amazing Church in its efforts to change the world one relationship, one community at a time. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
